About us
To help billions of people achieve universal and fair access to decentralized assets in a safe and scalable way.
Built by former Meta engineers who worked on Diem, Aptos operates a Layer-1 blockchain designed to make decentralized assets accessible to billions of people. The network uses the Move programming language and a parallel execution engine called Block-STM to handle high transaction throughput while maintaining security. Since launching mainnet in 2022, Aptos has formed partnerships with Microsoft, Google Cloud, Mastercard, and BlackRock to bridge traditional finance with Web3. The company positions itself as building infrastructure for a more equitable digital world, focusing on user experience improvements that make blockchain technology practical for everyday use.
Products
The core offering is the Aptos blockchain itself, supported by a suite of developer and consumer tools. Petra Wallet serves as the main self-custodial wallet for storing and managing digital assets. Aptos Connect simplifies Web3 onboarding by letting users create accounts through familiar OAuth social logins like Google and Facebook. For developers, Geomi provides API access, NFT integration, and authentication tools, while Aptos Names replaces complex wallet addresses with readable .apt domains. The company also operates Aptos Explorer for network analytics and is incubating products like Decibel (an on-chain perpetuals exchange) and Shelby (a hot storage protocol for AI workloads).
Funding
Aptos Labs raised approximately $350 million across two rounds in 2022. The company secured a $200 million seed round in March 2022 led by Andreessen Horowitz and Tiger Global Management, followed by a $150 million Series A in July 2022 co-led by FTX Ventures and Jump Crypto. Other investors include Multicoin Capital, Dragonfly, Apollo Global Management, and Franklin Templeton. The company reached an estimated $4 billion valuation and has driven growth through strategic acquisitions, including its late-2024 purchase of HashPalette to expand into Japan.
Recent news
In May 2026, Aptos Labs and the Aptos Foundation announced a $50 million ecosystem commitment designed to support institutional-grade trading infrastructure and autonomous AI agents transacting on the blockchain.
Technology
The infrastructure centers on Rust and Move, a secure programming language originally designed for Diem. Engineers work with the MoveVM runtime alongside support for EVM, WASM, and LLVM-based environments. Security tooling includes fuzzing, static analysis, and formal verification frameworks. Cloud infrastructure runs on AWS and Google Cloud, managed through Pulumi instead of Terraform, with heavy use of Kubernetes for container orchestration. The broader ecosystem supports TypeScript, Go, Java, Python, and Unity SDKs for application developers.
