About us

To make crypto useful by unlocking the power of borderless, secure, and easy-to-use financial products.

Bitso is Latin America's leading cryptocurrency platform, serving over 10 million customers across the region. What started as a crypto exchange in 2014 has grown into a comprehensive financial services platform that combines digital assets with traditional investments. Users can buy, sell, and hold over 120 cryptocurrencies alongside access to more than 5,000 global stocks and ETFs — all within a single app. The platform also handles cross-border payments and offers yield-earning accounts, positioning itself as a bridge between crypto and traditional finance. With international licenses and regulatory compliance across Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia, Bitso has established itself as a trusted provider focused on making financial services more accessible throughout Latin America.

Products

The core Bitso app lets users trade 120+ cryptocurrencies and invest in over 5,000 global stocks and ETFs. Users can earn yields on assets like USDC, USDT, ETH, and SOL with weekly payouts and no lock-ups. Bitso Alpha provides professional traders with advanced tools including limit orders and real-time technical analysis. The company also operates onchain.cc with 300+ perpetual markets for derivatives trading. Bitso Business serves over 1,900 institutional clients with cross-border payment infrastructure and stablecoin-based FX solutions for companies operating between Latin America and the United States.

Funding

Bitso reached unicorn status in May 2021 with a $250 million Series C round led by Tiger Global Management and Coatue, achieving a $2.2 billion valuation. The company has raised approximately $332 million total across seven funding rounds. Earlier rounds include a $62 million Series B in December 2020 led by Kaszek and QED Investors, and a $2.5 million Series A in September 2016 led by MONEXgroup. Other notable investors include Ripple, Pantera Capital, and Jump Capital.

Recent news

In June 2026, Bitso and Ripple announced a significant expansion of their partnership to integrate Bitso’s peso-backed stablecoin, MXNB, onto the XRP Ledger, aiming to streamline enterprise cross-border payments between the U.S. and Mexico. This follows a strategic partnership announced in May 2026 with Miracle Pay, which focuses on enhancing merchant onboarding, digital payments, and settlement infrastructure across Latin America.

Technology

Backend services run primarily on Java with Spring Boot managing microservices and event-driven architectures. The frontend uses TypeScript, React, and Next.js, while mobile apps are built with React Native. Data storage relies on PostgreSQL and Redis, with Apache Kafka handling asynchronous processing across distributed systems. Infrastructure lives on AWS using Docker and Kubernetes for containerization. Security and IT operations involve managing MDM, EDR, IAM, IDS, and SIEM tools for device management, endpoint detection, and network security.

Working at Bitso means unlimited paid time off through their 'Me Time' program, plus fully remote work with flexible hours. The company provides premium health, dental, and life insurance across all operational regions, along with mental health benefits and a monthly wellness stipend for gym memberships, sports equipment, or entertainment.
