About us
To be the leading investment and technology provider specialised in digital assets, cryptocurrencies, and related services.
Part of Deutsche Börse Group, Crypto Finance provides institutional digital asset solutions across Europe. Founded in 2017, the company operates through two regulated entities: Crypto Finance AG (FINMA-regulated in Switzerland) and Crypto Finance (Deutschland) GmbH (BaFin-regulated in Germany). As of January 2025, Crypto Finance secured a MiCAR license as one of the first providers in the EU. The company serves banks, pension funds, insurance companies, and family offices with secure, compliant access to digital assets. With over 100 professionals across offices in Zurich and Frankfurt, Crypto Finance bridges traditional financial infrastructure with blockchain technology through its integrated platform.
Products
The platform offers 24/7 crypto brokerage with deep liquidity access, FINMA-regulated custody services with hardware security modules, and custodial staking solutions. Specialized infrastructure includes AnchorNote, a pledging solution for off-venue settlement that improves capital efficiency, plus integration with Clearstream for sub-custody services. The company supports FIX and SWIFT protocols for institutional trading and settlement operations. All services are designed for institutional clients navigating digital assets while maintaining compliance with MiCAR and other regulatory frameworks.
Funding
Crypto Finance has raised approximately CHF 36 million across multiple rounds. The company secured CHF 1.45 million in an angel round in 2017, followed by a CHF 17.4 million Series A later that year. In April 2020, the company completed a CHF 14 million Series B led by Rainer-Marc Frey and Lingfeng Capital. The major milestone came in June 2021 when Deutsche Börse Group acquired a 66.7% majority stake for CHF 100 million, integrating Crypto Finance into its broader exchange infrastructure while allowing founders and management to retain significant ownership.
Recent news

Additionally, in January 2026, the group appointed Mike Schwitalla as its new Chief Commercial Officer to bolster its global expansion and product development efforts.
Technology
Infrastructure runs primarily on Google Cloud Platform with AWS and Azure support, orchestrated through Kubernetes and Docker containers. Backend applications are built in Java using Spring or Vert.x frameworks, connected to PostgreSQL databases. Development workflows rely on Git and Bitbucket, with heavy use of Python and Bash for scripting and automation. The architecture follows microservices patterns designed for institutional-grade security and high availability.
