About us

Build the best place for dApps by creating a high-performance Ethereum Layer 2 that combines Solana’s execution with Ethereum’s security and liquidity.

Eclipse operates as both a blockchain infrastructure company and an AI marketplace platform. The core product is Ethereum's first Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) Layer 2, which combines Ethereum's security and liquidity with Solana's parallel execution performance. This architecture uses Ethereum for settlement, Celestia for data availability, and RISC Zero for fraud proofs, supporting high-throughput applications like DeFi, gaming, and AI workloads. Beyond the blockchain infrastructure, Eclipse is building an AI agent-first marketplace that connects intelligence with real-world tasks, starting with data collection and labeling. The platform launched its mainnet in November 2024 with over 60 dApps and service providers. The team operates remote-first with quarterly in-person meetups.

Products

The flagship product is Eclipse Mainnet, an Ethereum-settled Layer 2 running the Solana Virtual Machine for parallel execution. Developers can build applications that access Ethereum's liquidity while benefiting from Solana-style performance. The platform includes interoperability tools via Hyperlane for bridging assets between Ethereum, Solana, and Eclipse networks. Additional products include tETH (described as the first Unified Restaking Token), the Eclipse Creator Fund for artists, and various developer tools like EclipseScan and the Canonical Bridge. The AI marketplace focuses on data collection and labeling services, preparing datasets for large language model training and fine-tuning.

Funding

Eclipse has raised $65 million total, including a $50 million Series A in March 2024 co-led by Placeholder and Hack VC. Participants include Polychain Capital, Delphi Digital, Maven 11, DBA, Fenbushi Capital, ParaFi Capital, and OKX Ventures, along with strategic investors like Flow Traders, GSR, and Auros. Earlier rounds in 2022 included seed funding with participation from Tribe Capital and Polychain. Notable individual backers include Mustafa Al-Bassam, Tarun Chitra, and Meltem Demirors.

Recent news

On Nov 7, 2024, Eclipse publicly opened its mainnet (after a developer launch in July), announcing that the Solana Virtual Machine–powered L2 is now live for the public and already hosts 60+ dApps, including DeFi projects such as Orca and Save/Solend, while reiterating the core architecture (Ethereum settlement, Celestia data availability, RISC Zero proofs). Although this is slightly older than 12 months relative to today’s date, it is the most clearly evidenced major public news item found in the Eclipse sources returned by this research round.

Technology

The blockchain infrastructure runs on Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) for execution, with Ethereum providing settlement and Celestia handling data availability. RISC Zero enables zero-knowledge fraud proofs, while Neon EVM provides Ethereum compatibility. The AI and data science work uses Python with libraries including Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, spaCy, and Hugging Face for machine learning and natural language processing. Data pipelines involve APIs and SDKs for automated annotation and active learning workflows. The platform supports tokenization, embeddings, and named entity recognition for LLM dataset preparation.

Benefits

Compensation includes top-percentile base salary plus equity and comprehensive health coverage (medical, dental, vision). The company offers a 401(k) with matching in both traditional and Roth options. Eclipse operates remote-first with flexible collaboration through weekly all-hands meetings, Slack communication, and quarterly in-person meetups. The team hosts triannual global offsites for in-person collaboration. As an early-stage company, employees can help shape the culture and have meaningful product impact. There's also a referral program offering up to $5,000 for successful candidate referrals.
