About us

To pioneer the future of onchain asset management and foster an open, flexible, and efficient financial system by bringing institutional discipline to decentralized finance.

Maple Finance brings institutional-grade lending to blockchain, combining traditional finance rigor with onchain transparency. Founded in 2019, the platform has originated over $21.9 billion in loans and manages $3.71 billion in assets under management, making it the largest onchain asset manager. The company connects institutional borrowers with accredited investors through professionally managed lending pools overseen by credit managers called Pool Delegates. All loans, collateral, and transactions are fully transparent and verifiable on the blockchain. The team is fully remote across 20+ countries, drawing talent from J.P. Morgan, Bank of America, Deutsche Bank, Amazon, BlackRock, Galaxy Digital, and PIMCO.

Products

The core platform facilitates institutional lending through overcollateralized crypto loans managed by Pool Delegates. Maple Institutional offers permissioned secured lending for sophisticated allocators, currently showing 5.1% APY with $63 million in assets. For broader access, syrupUSDC and syrupUSDT provide liquid yielding dollar products that let users earn institutional-grade yields. The platform has expanded to include syrupBTC for Bitcoin yield and various structured products. The ecosystem runs on the SYRUP token (which replaced the original MPL token) for governance and staking.

Funding

Maple Finance has raised approximately $22.7 million across multiple rounds. After early seed funding in 2020-2021, the company raised $10.5 million in an IDO in May 2021 at a $200 million valuation. A $15 million private round followed in early 2022. Most recently, Maple closed a $5 million strategic round in August 2023 led by BlockTower Capital and Tioga Capital, with participation from Framework Ventures, Spartan Capital, and others. The company has been profitable through loan origination fees and doesn't appear to need additional funding despite market downturns.

Recent news

In June 2026, Maple Finance announced a strategic integration with Tempo, a Paradigm-incubated payments blockchain. This partnership makes Maple's yield-bearing stablecoin product, syrupUSDC, directly available to enterprise fintech clients building on Tempo’s network, providing them with embedded institutional-grade yield opportunities.
