About us

To accelerate the world's adoption of crypto by making it safe, intuitive, and easy to use.

Built as a self-custodial crypto wallet, Phantom has grown into a comprehensive money app serving over 22 million users worldwide. The platform combines secure digital asset storage with everyday financial tools — users can swap tokens across multiple chains, stake assets, manage NFTs, and spend crypto through a Visa debit card. Starting as the leading wallet on Solana, Phantom now supports Ethereum, Bitcoin, Polygon, Base, and other major blockchains. The company reached #1 in Google Play's finance category and consistently ranks as a Top 50 app across all categories. With $320 million in annual revenue and over $25 billion in assets under custody, Phantom is building what it calls the world's biggest consumer finance platform at the intersection of crypto and traditional finance.

Products

The core product is a non-custodial wallet available as browser extensions and mobile apps for iOS and Android. Beyond basic send/receive functionality, Phantom offers built-in cross-chain token swaps, NFT management, SOL staking, and real-time scam detection that flags malicious transactions. Recent expansions include Phantom Cash (a USD-pegged stablecoin), a Visa debit card powered by Stripe and Bridge for spending crypto anywhere, and Phantom Perpetuals for trading over 200 crypto and equity markets with up to 40x leverage. The platform also features social elements like usernames and profiles for easy transfers between friends and family.

Funding

Phantom has raised $268 million across multiple rounds, most recently closing a $150 million Series C in January 2025 co-led by Sequoia Capital and Paradigm at a $3 billion valuation. Earlier funding includes a $109 million Series B in January 2022 led by Paradigm at a $1.2 billion valuation, and a $9 million Series A in July 2021 led by a16z. Other investors include Variant Fund, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Jump Capital, and Standard Crypto. The rapid funding growth reflects Phantom's expansion from a Solana wallet to a multi-chain consumer finance platform processing tens of billions in transaction volume.

Recent news

In Spring 2026, Phantom officially rolled out its own Visa debit card to all users. Developed in partnership with Stripe and Bridge, the launch included a native stablecoin called CASH, enabling users to seamlessly save, trade, and spend their cryptocurrency balances in everyday real-world transactions without having to off-ramp through a centralized exchange.

Technology

The backend runs on Node.js, TypeScript, Rust, and NestJS, with Rust handling performance-critical modules like identity and transaction signing. Frontend development uses React and React Native in a unified monorepo architecture built with Expo, allowing full-stack engineers to deploy across mobile apps and browser extensions. State management relies on React Query and Phantom's open-source Signalium library. Security infrastructure includes AWS KMS, Vault, and modern authentication protocols like WebAuthn/Passkeys, OAuth2/OIDC, and OTP. The platform integrates deeply with Web3 technologies for on-chain data across Solana, Ethereum, Polygon, and Bitcoin networks.

Benefits

Phantom operates as a fully remote company with flexible hours and a home office setup stipend. Benefits include 100% covered medical, dental, and vision insurance, unlimited PTO that employees are actively encouraged to use, and a 401(k) retirement plan. Day-to-day perks include a weekly meal benefit and monthly wellness benefit. The team connects through two global off-sites annually in different cities around the world. Compensation includes competitive salary and meaningful equity, with the option to take part of pay in crypto. The culture emphasizes ownership, security focus, and building an inclusive environment for people from all backgrounds.
