About us
To make the world safe from fraud and financial crime.
Sardine builds an AI-driven risk platform that unifies fraud prevention, AML compliance, and real-time transaction monitoring. Over 450 banks, fintechs, and merchants use Sardine to stop identity fraud, payment fraud, account takeovers, and social engineering scams before they happen. The platform combines device intelligence, behavioral biometrics, and machine learning to help risk teams act at machine speed while maintaining human judgment. With offices in the Bay Area, NYC, Austin, Toronto, and São Paulo, Sardine operates as a remote-first company serving clients in 70+ countries. The team has screened $148 trillion in payments and profiled over 6 billion devices globally.
Products
The core platform offers modular building blocks across onboarding, fraud prevention, cybersecurity, and AML compliance. For onboarding, Sardine provides global KYC/KYB, identity verification, and bank account validation. Fraud prevention includes payment monitoring across ACH, FedNow, and cards, plus account takeover protection and bot detection. The AML suite covers transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and case management. Sardine's "Agentic AI" features specialized agents that autonomously execute fraud investigations and AML workflows. The platform also maintains Sonar, a data consortium that shares risk intelligence across the network to expose coordinated fraud patterns like mule networks.
Funding
Sardine has raised $170.6 million across multiple rounds. The most recent Series C-II in May 2026 brought in $25 million from National Bank of Canada's NAventures. Earlier, a $70 million Series C in February 2025 was led by Activant Capital at a $660 million valuation. Key investors include Andreessen Horowitz, Nyca Partners, Google Ventures, Experian Ventures, Visa, and FIS. The company reported 130% year-over-year growth in annual recurring revenue in 2024, reaching approximately $23 million while nearly doubling its enterprise customer base.
Recent news
In May 2026, Sardine announced a strategic partnership with the payments automation platform Modulr to integrate its AI-enabled fraud detection and AML compliance tools directly into automated payment flows.
Technology
Backend services run on Python, Node.js, and Go, with React, Next.js, and TypeScript powering the frontend. Cloud infrastructure spans AWS and Google Cloud Platform using Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform for infrastructure as code. Data engineering leverages Snowflake as the primary warehouse, integrated with BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, and Fivetran. The platform extensively uses REST APIs tested via Postman, with advanced machine learning models and LLMs for behavioral analysis. Business intelligence runs on Sigma, Tableau, and Looker, while the core fraud detection relies on device intelligence, behavioral biometrics, and real-time ML algorithms.
