About us
To build a stablecoin payments platform for the tokenized future and make the next generation of global payments possible.
Rain builds infrastructure that makes stablecoins work in the real world. The company provides a unified API that lets fintechs, neobanks, and enterprises launch stablecoin-powered cards, digital wallets, and cross-border payments without managing fragmented vendors. As a Visa Principal Member, Rain settles transactions directly on blockchain rails while maintaining compatibility with traditional payment networks. Their platform handles the regulatory complexity and compliance behind the scenes, enabling partners to offer cards that work at 175+ million merchants globally, instant remittances, and programmable money flows that operate 24/7 including weekends and holidays. Rain serves over 200 enterprise clients including Western Union and Nuvei, facilitating more than $3 billion in annualized transactions across 11 blockchains.
Products
Rain's core platform includes three main components: digital accounts for storing and routing stablecoins, card issuing infrastructure for launching stablecoin-powered credit and prepaid cards, and money movement services including fiat on/off-ramps and cross-border payments. The company offers specialized solutions like branded "wallet-in-a-box" integrations for embedded finance, premium USD cards for high-net-worth individuals, and programmable virtual cards with built-in spending controls. All products connect to Rain's settlement engine that operates across 11 blockchains including Ethereum, Solana, and Base.
Funding
Rain has raised over $338 million across multiple rounds. The company closed a $250 million Series C in January 2026 led by ICONIQ at a $1.95 billion valuation. This followed a $58 million Series B in late 2025 led by Sapphire Ventures and a $24.5 million round in March 2025 led by Norwest Venture Partners. Other investors include Dragonfly, Bessemer Venture Partners, Lightspeed, Galaxy Ventures, and Coinbase Ventures. Between funding rounds, Rain's active card base increased 30x and payment volume surged 38x.
Recent news
In May 2026, Rain announced it became a Mastercard Principal Member, enabling the company to directly issue stablecoin-linked credit and prepaid cards on the Mastercard network.
Technology
The platform runs on JavaScript and SQL with extensive use of financial APIs, webhook systems, and real-time payment processing engines. Frontend development uses TypeScript, React, and Next.js with Tailwind CSS styling. Backend services run on Node.js and Go, with RabbitMQ for message brokering and GraphQL for API development. Rain's infrastructure integrates with Visa, ACH, SWIFT, and wire payment rails while supporting multi-chain settlement across 11 blockchains. The team works with smart contracts, custodial and non-custodial wallet architectures, and digital assets like USDC to enable programmable money flows.
