The Compliance Training and Policy Governance Team executes and oversees the enterprise-wide document governance function and the compliance training and awareness program. Its mission is to deliver a holistic framework to effectively articulate content and ethical norms through consistent standards for policies and procedures (P&P) as fundamental principles for the protection of Coinbase, our employees and customers, and mitigate compliance risk by promoting positive conduct through the education of applicable laws, rules and regulations.

You will be joining a small, dynamic team that operates in a very fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Compliance Training and Policy Governance, you will be responsible for developing effective Compliance training content and solutions, interacting and collaborating with senior stakeholders in Compliance and other cross functional teams, and supporting the delivery of the annual global Compliance Training Plan. You will also play a key role in advancing the implementation of a best-in-class global Compliance Training Program that meets Coinbase’s legal and regulatory requirements, and inspires a culture of compliance and continuous learning.



What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Support the development and implementation of an effective global compliance training and awareness program, which leverages innovative learning solutions and technology, and incorporates adult learning principles with strong instructional design
  • Conduct the annual compliance training needs assessment
  • Execute the annual global Compliance Training Plan
  • Collaborate with compliance subject matter experts and other stakeholders as needed to create impactful training content and ensure alignment of compliance training content with new or revised Compliance policies, risk assessment results and other related information
  • Lead the design and development of engaging and innovative Compliance training solutions and communications
  • Engage with subject matter experts throughout the project, communicate and document project status and obtain appropriate approvals for training courses
  • Develop a compliance training communications strategy and awareness campaign to supplement initiatives included in the Compliance Training Plan and promote the overall program
  • Support the development and rollout of a functional continuing education program and manage its day-to-day operations once implemented
  • Apply creative thinking and executional excellence that will include actively seeking out new, cutting edge technology to further improve training and communication initiatives, and building efficiency
  • Develop and establish Compliance training content and design standards
  • Develop and track key metrics to assess the effectiveness of compliance training and communication initiatives, and leverage data to drive training design decisions
  • Manage compliance training reporting
  • Support or draft responses for internal reviews, regulatory exams or other internal/external inquiries related to the compliance training program
  • Partner closely with other team members and stakeholders to ensure an appropriate holistic approach to policies, training and communications
  • Identify, select and manage external vendor relationships as needed
  • Apply a continuous improvement mindset and propose enhancements or recommendations to increase efficiency and effectiveness of compliance training processes, tools and technology
  • Manage or support other initiatives of the Compliance Training and Policy Governance team as required, e.g., implementation of a policy library

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably with a focus on education/training or instructional design
  • 10+ years of relevant compliance, risk management, legal or HR/L&D experience, preferably with a strong focus on creating and delivering compliance training and communications in a regulated environment
  • Previous exposure to compliance or regulatory learning and communications needs, ideally at a global organization
  • Experience with tools and structures that enable an effective compliance training and communications framework
  • Experience in instructional design and training methodologies, adult learning theory, training needs assessment, content analysis and writing, course evaluation and learning technologies
  • Experience with learning analytics, ideally related to compliance training metrics and reporting, and possesses a data-driven mindset
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex matters and/or solutions through concise and clear messaging
  • Strong program and project management skills, including a proven track record of leading large complex training projects
  • Excellent influencing and intrapersonal skills with the ability to work independently and efficiently in a hyper growth environment, together with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Able to exercise good judgment and propose course of action where precedent may not exist
  • Organized with excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge of compliance risks and compliance risk management frameworks
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Slides, Google Sheets etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)

Nice to haves:

  • Working knowledge of content authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Captivate, etc.)
  • Experience designing and implementing continuing education programs
  • Knowledge of skill assessments
  • Docebo Learning Management System, Jira
  • Knowledge of the regulatory framework and requirements applicable to Coinbase, and related industry standards and best practices
