Role Overview / Impact: Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, this role is responsible for leading and managing a team that will build relationships with the most respected brands and institutions in the finance, fintech, and digital asset space.
The VP of Sponsorships will be responsible for building and scaling the Sponsorships team while ensuring that the team hits and exceeds annual and quarterly revenue targets. As a senior member of the Revenue team, you will play a critical role in optimizing our selling process and fostering meaningful relationships with our clients.
This person and his/her/their team will be responsible for thoroughly understanding clients’ needs, clearly articulating The Block’s value proposition, and providing an exceptional customer service experience to connect the clients’ needs with effective advertising solutions.
This person will serve as a key voice of the market internally and contribute market feedback to the Editorial, Product, Research, and Engineering teams to drive new product development and roadmap planning. This is an entrepreneurial role that provides the opportunity to conceive of and execute new business lines and product offerings.
Finally, this role will work hand-in-hand with other senior leaders to achieve relevant OKRs and contribute to important strategic decisions across the organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
Revenue Generation
Design and execute an aggressive sponsorships sales strategy to increase Sponsorships revenue fourfold over the next 3 years or less.Develop and Execute a Best-in-Class Sponsorship Sales Process
Refine sales process to reflect a consultative selling method with value-based solution selling techniquesResponsible for managing the entire customer lifecycle - from prospecting to driving revenue to delivering on the backend and reporting back to clientsDefine sales strategy and resources needed to executeCreate scalable, repeatable, and measurable sales processesPartner with Sales Operations and Marketing to update sales collateral, communication strategies, and prospecting techniques Build and sustain lasting relationships with existing and potential clientsClearly communicate The Block’s value proposition and the unique benefits of each of our advertising offerings to meet clients’ goalsPartner with the Sales Operations team to accurately report on the sales funnel from lead generation through close
Sponsorships Sales Team Management
Lead The Block’s Sponsorships organization including a growing team of Account Executives and Campaign ManagersManage team leads and individual contributors to ensure consistency in approach across the team as it relates to achievement, sharing of best practices, and techniquesCoach direct reports on all aspects of the sales and campaign management processHold weekly team meetings and 1:1s with direct reportsConduct monthly skip level meetingsCommunicate updates from other cross-functional leaders to teamRecruit, Onboard, and Grow Top Talent Attract and invest in talent to create a high performing team
Conduct quarterly career development check-ins with direct reports Provide ongoing coaching to team members during 1:1s Identify training opportunities that can be scaled across the teamPartner with people operations to recruit and retain top-tier talent
Measures of Success

Qualifications
10+ years of experience in digital advertising sales with a demonstrated track record of hitting and exceeding revenue targets5+ years managing peopleTransformative manager who attracts, develops and retains high performing staff in a competitive talent environment.Superb communication and presentation skills; able to communicate at the C-levelHighly skilled communicator with experience in change managementFlexible leader that can operate at a strategic level, but can also deep dive tacticallyAbility to prioritize, multi-task, and perform effectively under pressureImpeccable time management and organizational skillsAn interest in the evolving crypto and digital assets industry
