Data Engineer

Our newly formed data team is here to build up and serve a best in class data platform to the whole company. This is a greenfield project so you will be able to play your part in key decisions and our strategy from the outset.

What you’ll do 👀

Working closely with the rest of the data team and the wider company you will be part of a team ensuring the constant availability of clean, usable data and data services. As a key member of the data team you would be expected to come with good experience and knowledge from previous data roles. With the support of more senior members of the data engineering team you would be expected to further develop your skills and knowledge, while at the same time helping to mentor more junior members of the team. While we are not expecting you to come in with full architecture plans your ideas will be listened to from day one.

You should apply if ✅

• Fluent in python, including tests and at least some of the data libraries.
• Experience in writing tests, both code and data with a strong desire to champion those standards.
• Experience with a number of differing data storage solutions, SQL and NoSQL databases, data warehouses, data lakes etc.
• Cloud experience (ideally GCP but transferable skills from other cloud providers is also fine).
• Fluent is SQL (exact flavour doesn’t really matter), with experience in using window functions and the more advanced features.
  Experience with Airflow or similar orchestration tool
• Familiarity with shell scripting languages (eg bash)
• Understanding of Docker & kubernetes
• Good understanding of data warehouse structuring
• Full grasp of git
• Ability to work under pressure, we’re a fast paced startup, you’ll be working on many different things day to day.
• Good communication skills in English.

Nice to have:

• Experience/familiarity with other languages
• Experience with streaming technologies, eg Kafka
• Experience with DBT, Spark, Beam
• Experience in designing data systems from scratch
• Experience with Terraform
• Familiarity with production quality ML and/or AI model development
• Experience working in startups
• Experience within crypto and/or fintech

Our interview process takes place on Google Hangouts and tends to consist of the following stages:

• Initial screen (30-45 minutes)
• Remote take-home task
• Final interview (2 hours)
