Paralegal

Working alongside our General Counsel, two Legal Counsels (soon to be 3!) and the Compliance Officer, you will be joining the team at the perfect time. We are growing extremely fast, and the legal challenges are exciting. We have a lot of projects coming up, and we need a passionate legal mind to help us bring Shakepay to the next level.

You will:
  • Maintain and organize minute books, corporate records, legal files and related records
  • Draft board and shareholders resolutions and various corporate documents
  • Prepare, manage and file various government reports and corporate documents (e.g. provincial and extra-provincial registration, amending declaration, annual reports, etc.)
  • Prepare, manage and file securities/regulatory documents, especially our ongoing/semi-routine filings with NRD, OSC, AMF, FINTRAC, and eventually with IIROC
  • Assist with the coordination and completion of external audits, questionnaires, documentations and correspondences from our third parties partners, investors, regulators, suppliers, etc
  • Help to draft and negotiate legal documents
  • Provide additional support to the legal and compliance teams, and coordinate with external counsels
  • Assist with gathering and analyzing laws, decisions, legal articles, and with regulatory watches
  • Help with managing and responding to complaints made to regulators/government and authorities, and to demand letters.

  • Must have:
  • Experience drafting legal agreements
  • 5 years of legal experience, ideally including in-house experience
  • Fluency in English (written/verbal); French, an asset
  • Experience with, or have shown interest in tech companies
  • Project management skills
  • Be solution-oriented with the ability to multitask
