Technical Manager (Lightwallet) REMOTE

IO Global, creator of the Cardano blockchain, is looking for a Technical Manager to join its Light Wallet team. As a Technical Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that all feature requests and the product roadmap are aligned with the long-term stability, extendability, maintainability, and security of the system, while ensuring the development process is sustainable and efficient. You will be working with a highly skilled team responsible for implementing a new wallet strategy for IOG. This ranges from the wallets to other APIs and commercial solutions designed with the Cardano team. Your product, tooling, and architectural choices will influence the adoption of Cardano by billions of users, along with the many DApps and DeFi systems currently being developed.

Your mission

As Technical Manager, you will work with the product manager, the technical leads, and our researchers to turn user needs into technical requirements and ensure that those are feasible under all technical constraints on the system. In addition, you will feed work items that are necessary to keep the system maintainable and stable into the roadmap and ensure that they are properly prioritized.

Working with cross-functional teams, you will observe and consult on their development processes and team structure, with the goal of keeping it sustainable, efficient, and aligned with the product needs.

Duties will include:

• Having and maintaining a holistic view of Cardano and having a deep understanding of Ouroboros, EUTXO, Cardano HD wallets, staking, stake pools and delegation, Plutus, and smart contracts.
• Turning feature requests into technical requirements and acceptance criteria
• Grooming and prioritizing product maintenance and stability tasks
• Following the progress of work and assisting technical teams with production issues during sprints
• Aligning preferences and requests of end users with what’s technically feasible
• Refining our agile methodology based on results and client as well as technical team feedback
• Identifying opportunities for turning research innovations into features
• Keeping track of industry trends
• Working with product managers, delivery team, and tech leadership on common goals
• Co-owning a tactical plan to achieve goals defined in the product and company strategies with the product manager
• Providing high-quality technical leadership across the projects assigned to you and internal expertise to others as required
• Taking technical custodianship of one or more engineering competencies, developing and ensuring consistent application of best practice across projects, and leading on technical innovations
• Mentoring and developing engineering staff in your areas of expertise, including developing and delivering training, undertaking knowledge-sharing activities, and supporting succession planning in your area
• Providing technical approval of designs and checking or assessing deliverables on your projects in accordance with internal management systems.

Requirements

Your expertise

• Work experience as a technical manager or similar role in engineering, such as senior engineer or technical architect
• A background in distributed computing, and preferably strong experience with blockchain technologies
• Familiarity with agile, Jira, and GitHub is essential
• Hands-on experience managing all stages of the product life cycle
• Technical background and deep experience in software development
• Team spirit and good communication abilities
• Good organizational skills
• BSc or higher in computer science, engineering, or a similar field.
