The Opportunity

Ledn is seeking a full time Director Risk Management to build and maintain Ledn’s risk management program. The successful candidate is comfortable with ambiguity and a fast-paced growth environment in the ever evolving crypto lending environment. This position reports to the [CCO/Head of Compliance and Risk]. You will frequently liaise with outside peers, risk experts and relevant regulators, to ensure that the organization stays current on best practices and emerging risks. About the Role

  • Implement a best-in-class risk management process that facilitates the identification, analysis and quantification of strategic, operational, investment and corporate risks and opportunities.
  • Develop enterprise and investment risk management tools, practices, and policies to analyze and report enterprise and investment risks, and to manage risks according to an enterprise risk management framework.
  • Ensure the organization's risk management policies and strategies are in compliance with applicable regulations, and strategic imperatives of the organization.
  • Provide input and/or recommendations on the development and implementation of risk policies and procedures.
  • Provide input and/or recommendations on risk mitigation techniques and controls.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the corporate risk profile and listing of management’s highest rated strategic risk (risk register) in accordance with the corporate risk management methodology.
  • Gather data that facilitates data-driven and predictive risk management.
  • Facilitate the evaluation and monitoring of strategic risk for the Leadership team
  • Collaborate to design and build a system that will capture risks on a real time basis and predict a risk event before it happens based on data analyticsBuild and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that a collaborative, shared contribution focus is preserved.
  • Initially, as a sole contributor, you will need to leverage organizational relationships to move initiatives forward on pace.

    • What you bring to Ledn

  • At least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • 5+ years of risk management experience with a financial services company with domestic and international operations.
  • A university degree with concentrations in business, mathematics, finance, statistics or other quantitative fields.
  • Relevant knowledge and expertise including a control, audit, or financial background that understands how a system of controls works together to create a sound organization.
  • Solid critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
  • Experience with corporate and regulatory governance activities and standards.
  • Experience with risk assessment processes, metrics and frameworks.
  • Strong business and corporate risk acumen.

    • Nice to Have

  • Certification as a Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Professional Accountant, or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) is strongly preferred.

    Ledn Working Environment

    Our headquarter is located in downtown Toronto and soon will be opening a satellite office in Montreal. We've learned a lot working remotely and are pretty good at it, but also miss connecting and collaborating with our team!
