About the role

We are looking for a Senior Compliance Associate to join our PESL (Payward Europe Solution Ltd.) entity headquartered in Ireland. As a new entity, you will join a small but growing team of crypto operations and compliance experts to help expand our footprint in Europe. As our Senior Compliance Associate, with a particular strength in licensing activity, you will hold responsibility for leading the execution of our European VASP licensing strategy and ensure strict adherence with both regional (EU) and domestic regulatory requirements and operational policies and procedures.

As our PESL Snr. Compliance Associate, you will need to thoughtfully analyze regional policy matters and communicate their impact on the business to a wide range of internal and external stakeholder groups. With breadth of exposure across various major EU regulatory jurisdictions, you will be able to navigate this regional landscape with confidence and credibility and help drive development of compliance solutions and licensing applications at pace.

As a role with regional focus, this position can be based anywhere in Europe.

Responsibles

  • Working closely with regional compliance and operational leadership teams to help develop and implement Kraken’s compliance policies for Payward Europe Solutions Limited.
  • Play a lead role in the execution of regulatory strategy across various EU jurisdictions.
  • Support the development of required compliance policy, process and procedure with local country regulatory nuances in mind.
  • Represent the company as a professional regulatory compliance expert with industry regulatory bodies and other external stakeholder partners.
  • Act as an internal subject matter expert and provide support for regulatory compliance issues across a range of internal functions and stakeholder groups.
  • Review, analyze, and document regulator responses to ongoing licensing activity and translate to actionable recommendations and next steps for the entity.
  • Manage various inboxes and provide timely responses to all stakeholders
  • Ensure adequate and timely responses to all law enforcement inquiries
  • Perform due diligence/enhanced due diligence on customers, partners, vendors as requiredIdentify and develop workflow efficiencies
  • Keep abreast and up to date on the latest trends and typologies in respect of Financial Crime matters - AML/CFT/Sanctions.
  • Perform AML/CTF investigations as assigned
  • File Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) with FIU Ireland or equivalent authority as and when required

    • Requirements

  • Three-year university degree or Industry Qualifications.
  • 5 plus years’ experience in a compliance role at a financial institution or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the EU/Domestic regulatory environment and specifically the Virtual Asset Activities Framework
  • Familiar with the process of on-site and thematic inspections conducted by regulatory authorities (eg. CBI, FCA, OAM)
  • Deep understanding of the following regulations/legislation/codes: Virtual Asset Service Provider legislation, The fifth Anti Money Laundering Directive (AMLD5), Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (2004/39/EC)
  • CAMS certification preferred
  • Experience in the crypto asset space is preferred
  • Familiarity with anti-money laundering and know-your-customer best practices
  • Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to take ownership of work product and consistently deliver results
  • Adaptability to global business needs
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing regulatory environment
