Technical Writer (Plutus)

IO Global, creator of the blockchain platform Cardano, is searching for a Technical Writer to join the Plutus team. The Plutus team is building the core of Cardano’s smart contract functionality on the bedrock of functional programming languages. This interdisciplinary team carries out original R&D and turns the results into production systems.

To keep such a heady mixture of research, development, and design working well requires a wide range of highly competent people working together in a collegial and cooperative environment. In collaboration with and under the guidance of the lead technical writer for the Plutus team, your mission is to help to ensure that the team's documentation is world-class. You will bring your curiosity, desire to learn, and passion for formulating and asking questions and engaging with subject matter experts. You will play a key role in organizing, structuring, indexing, and editing the team's documentation output. If this sounds like you, then drop us a line!

Your mission

• Working in close coordination with the lead technical writer in identifying priorities and goals
• Working with key subject matter experts, including software developers, product managers, and engineering stakeholders, to create technical content targeted at developers looking to build applications using the Plutus language and tools
• Helping to organize all technical content produced by the Plutus team
• Publishing updates to the public-facing Plutus documentation as needed to keep it synchronized with software releases
• Working closely with content authors and other technical writers to ensure compliance with style guides as well as ensuring proper punctuation, grammar, voice, and tone
• Integrating content management tools and software into our process
• Writing internal documentation, guides, and templates for the team’s content creation process
• Working with other members of the IOG documentation team to integrate Plutus documentation into the overall presentation of Cardano documents.

Requirements

Your expertise

• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience as a Technical Writer, preferably with a technology company
• Thorough knowledge of technical writing concepts and techniques
• Solid experience working directly with developers and SMEs
• Self-starter and able to navigate through the application software to get the work done
• Attention to detail
• Critical thinking skills
• Ability to work independently and under pressure created by deadlines
• A university degree majoring in technical writing/translation, major in computer studies, or equivalent experience is preferred
• Solid experience publishing to GitHub and developer portals
• Experience of helping identify tools for library, code, and API documentation.
