About the Role

The Corporate Counsel role will support Figure’s corporate, finance and capital markets functions. Our Legal team plays a central role in Figure’s hyper growth and the realization of our mission of leveraging blockchain to transform financial services.

What You’ll Do

• Execute the vision to further Figure's position as a leader in financial services technology, blockchain and consumer lending
• Draft, review, negotiate and interpret commercial agreements to support Figure’s businesses, including software/technology agreements, customer and vendor agreements, licensing agreements, services agreements, confidentiality agreements, and other complex commercial agreements
• Assist with corporate and securities transactions, including capital markets transactions, M&A (or related) transactions, partnerships and financing transactions.
• Provide advice and counsel related to corporate governance, investor relations and equity related matters
• Effectively manage internal direct reports and outside counsel
• Actively collaborate with a wide variety of teams, including product, engineering, partnerships, compliance, and marketing, on a range of issues related to product development and commercialization
• Help build scalable and effective processes for legal review and launch of new products
• Assist with regulatory compliance and contract compliance related to certain business initiatives
• Manage Figure’s intellectual property licenses

What We Look For

• J.D. and membership with at least one state bar
• 5+ years combined relevant experience in a top law firm, government agency, and/or in-house legal team
• Structured finance and contract drafting skills
• Experience in consumer financial services regulations is a plus
• Experience with capital markets transactions is a plus
• Strong communication and research skills
• Self-starter who will take ownership of projects
• Strong record of hands-on contract drafting and negotiations
• Ability to succeed in a start-up environment and greenfield legal space with a flexible approach
• Sound and practical business judgment
