Our core technology – zkSync Era – is a layer 2 rollup that uses advanced cryptography called zero-knowledge proofs to scale Ethereum without compromising on security or decentralization. zkSync Era is EVM compatible, which means projects on Ethereum and other EVM-based blockchains can easily deploy on zkSync Era to take advantage of low gas fees and high transaction speeds.

With a total of $458 million in mission-driven funding, zkSync Era is the first EVM-compatible ZK Rollup to go live on testnet (February 2022) and be deployed on mainnet (October 2022). As we enter the endgame for Ethereum scaling, we are committed to full open source and building in public toward our stated mission [so that even if we fail, the community and the ecosystem will benefit from our contribution].

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our Engineering Team. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer at Matter Labs, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of our infrastructure. You will work closely with our development team to build and maintain automated deployment pipelines, monitor and analyze system performance, and identify and resolve issues before they impact our users.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design and implement secure, scalable, and reliable infrastructure to support our products and services
  • Provisioning hundreds and soon thousands of GPU auto-scalable workloads distributed across multiple providers, using the most modern enterprise GPUs to accelerate our cutting-edge Zero-Knowledge Proof system
  • Working on Multi-cloud multi-regional infrastructure setup as well as a cutting edge tech stack mostly running newest Kubernetes versions, to solve some non orthodox infrastructure challenges
  • As a DevOps Engineer, you will be part of a 24/7 on-call rotation to ensure our systems remain operational at all times.

What We Look For in You

  • 5+years of experience in infrastructure, Site Reliability Engineering, or a similar role
  • Experience with Unix/Linux systems (internals, kernel, debugging)
  • Proficiency in one of Python, Go, C++, or Java or Go. We are working primarily with Python and Go
  • Experience withInfrastructure as Code (Terraform and ecosystem around it) and cloud computing platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure, etc)
  • Extensive experience with industry standard of container orchestration - Kubernetes, understanding of Docker and/or containerd internalsExperience with monitoring, logging, tracing, or continuous profiling platforms
  • Demonstrated proficiency in creating and maintaining complex observability platforms for highly-loaded systems, with expertise in monitoring and logging.
  • Solid understanding of networking, security, and web protocol
  • Experience with blockchain technology is a plus but not essential
  • Familiarity with tracing and continuous profiling will be considered a significant bonus

  • English is your native language or you are completely fluent
  • As a DevOps Engineer, you will be part of a 24/7 on-call rotation to ensure our systems remain operational at all times.
