About the job:

As an Assistant General Counsel, you will play a crucial role in helping to build the legal and compliance departments for a leading global metaverse company. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, advising on legal matters related to blockchain technology, digital assets, and the evolving regulatory landscape, in addition to commercial contracts, corporate governance and related matters.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a key legal advisor, providing guidance on regulatory affairs and public policy matters, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations in Europe and other regions of operation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess legal risks and develop strategies for mitigating them.
• Stay up to date with emerging legal and regulatory trends in the blockchain industry, translating complex legal concepts into actionable insights for the business.
• Draft, review, and negotiate various legal agreements, including commercial contracts, partnerships, and licensing agreements.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures.
• Engage with external stakeholders, industry associations, and regulatory bodies to shape public policy and advocate for favorable regulatory frameworks.
• Provide training and educational resources to internal teams, promoting legal compliance and awareness throughout the organization.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) or European equivalent legal degree from an accredited institution.
• Admitted to practice law in a European jurisdiction.
• 5+ years of legal experience, with a focus on regulatory affairs and compliance, preferably in a major law firm and/or in-house setting.
• Proven ability to provide practical legal advice and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines effectively.
• Demonstrated collaboration and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work well across diverse teams and cultures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; fluency in additional languages is a plus.

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of European and international regulatory frameworks applicable to the gaming and blockchain industries and digital assets.
• Familiarity with web3, blockchain technology, and related legal considerations.
