THE OPPORTUNITY

Requirements

Our client is the best place to find and book food trucks. The goal of this initial project is to make it as seamless and delightful as possible for hosts to find and book a food truck to cater their event. They are currently deep in the user research that is helping us to understand their users needs and to discover the highest impact pain points to alleviate for them.

The initial focus of this engagement will be the workflow that is used by customers to book food trucks for their events. This includes the form they fill out on the website to tell us about their event, and the page they use to find and book available trucks. They will be building and testing prototypes of various parts of these workflows that allow us to iterate towards the best user experience.

Depending on what they discover in user research they may also spend time on:

  • The onboarding flow and process for their vendors

  • The “bidding” experience for vendors

  • The “sales” experience for their managed sales people

There is a huge opportunity to make an impact in a very fun space (food trucks). They have spent years growing their business and doing the best they can to build the software they need. Now they’re taking the steps to invest in their user experience because they know it’s a huge opportunity to grow their business. Working with us combines some of the best parts of new product design in terms of freedom and creativity, with the best parts of an established business and the ability to see bottom line impact from your work.

What you’ll be working on

Must have Experience:

  • Designing for medium complexity purchases/shopping

    • Ideally this is experience with “marketplace” type transactions (like Airbnb, Taskrabbit, etc.)

  • Creating prototypes and synthesizing user feedback on those prototypes

  • Working within an existing business and UX

Nice to have Experience:

  • Front end coding

Main tools used:

  • Figma

  • Linear

The ideal candidate:

  • Has a great product sensibility and customer empathy

  • Is deeply curious about what the “best” solution might be, and low ego about who comes up with it

  • Is highly organized and systematic, ideally using tokenized systems and clear naming conventions

  • Prioritize speed to learning over pixel perfection

  • Communicate clearly and concisely
