Horizen Labs is looking for an Associate Legal Counsel to join its team. As Associate Counsel, you will play a crucial role in supporting our legal team, reviewing/drafting agreements, providing sound legal advice, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations in blockchain technology's dynamic and evolving field. The ideal candidate will have 4-7 years of legal experience and a strong corporate, transactional, and regulatory services background. Additionally, candidates with interests or prior experience with emerging tech companies or in the web3/blockchain industry will be given preference.

What You’ll Own:

  • Provide legal support and guidance on corporate, transactional, and regulatory matters related to blockchain technology and our company's operations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including commercial agreements, partnerships, vendor agreements, and licensing agreements.
  • Conduct legal research on blockchain-related laws, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal compliance in various business operations, including product development, marketing, and sales.
  • Assist in developing and implementing corporate governance and internal policies and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging legal trends, regulations, and advancements in blockchain technology to proactively identify and address legal risks and opportunities.
  • Assist and support the company's Human Resources team with employment matters, service agreements, and dispute resolution, when necessary.
  • Assist managing relationships with external legal counsel and coordinate legal projects outsourced to external firms.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop training programs and materials to educate employees on legal and compliance matters.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law and in good standing in a relevant jurisdiction.
  • 4-7 years of legal experience, preferably with a focus on corporate, transactional, and regulatory services.
  • Strong understanding of corporate law, contract law, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with the web3 industry, blockchain technology and the related legal implications.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Prior experience working with or for emerging technology companies, particularly in the blockchain/web3 industry, is highly desirable.
