The Role

The a16z Crypto Design Partner is responsible for ideating, creating, and maintaining branded assets through a variety of physical and digital channels. As a member of the crypto marketing team, they will work closely with the brand, communications, events, and editorial teams to develop creative that supports a16z crypto and our portfolio companies - such as announcements, presentations, event collateral, infographics, videos, emails/newsletters, webpages, content campaigns, and more. This person will have a passion for web3, bring a level of excellence to all that they design, and be eager to continually find new ways to visualize the future. They should be aware of the latest design tools and trends, but also be ready to set the next trend, not follow it.

To join our team, you should be excited to:

• Develop holistic, macro design strategies for a16z crypto campaigns and initiatives big and small, while also tactically delivering the visuals with an eye for detail.
• Own design projects from conception to completion, with autonomy to manage time, balance deadlines, and maintain stakeholder expectations throughout the design process.
• Work with presenters, including leadership, to design engaging, insightful, and impactful presentations.
• Work cross-functionally with the events and communication teams to create branded event experiences and support firm and portfolio company announcements
• Evolve and guide the brand, including maintaining the brand guidelines and asset libraries.
• Partner and collaborate with our development agency and external design vendors to bring web design projects to life.
• Manage our relationships with creative agencies and freelancers to build out our ecosystem of agency partners.

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years of design experience.
• BA or BFA in Graphic Design, with a deep understanding of design principles.
• Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign), Figma, Google Docs, Google Slides, Keynote, and PowerPoint.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently on projects from start to finish.
• Strong collaborator and effective communicator across all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrates good judgment: you know when to push a design and when to play it safe.
• Approach all work with an organized and efficient mentality, with an eye for detail.
• Has a real passion for brand and design, while also intellectually curious and interested in technology.
• Has an executive presence: can sell a design concept to any audience, can be present and thoughtful in review meetings, has the agility to pivot and adapt the design execution as the strategy evolves, and can take direction/critiques well.
• Candidates must link to their portfolio.

Extras

• Experience with Adobe After Effects or other animation software.
• Illustration or Photography skills are a plus.
• Experience designing for tech startups.

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $203,000-$236,000, actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.

This role is eligible to participate in the a16z carry program and various discretionary bonus programs as well as benefit and perquisite plans including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401K plan, vacation, and sick leave. #LI-Remote
