We’re looking for fintech enthusiasts to join us in creating the financial infrastructure of tomorrow. We’re building the first European Investment API to enable any financial institution to offer a broad range of investment products in their apps. Our view is backed by Europe's largest tech VCs (Earlybird, Notion Capital, Partech, HV Capital, ABN AMRO Ventures) by renowned fintech entrepreneurs (including Maximilian Tayenthal, founder of N26, and Felix Haas, founder of IDnow) and Bessemer Venture Partners in the USA.

At Upvest, our vision is to make investing as easy as spending money. By enabling any business to offer investment opportunities, our goal is to empower anyone to invest. Today, we count 150+ talented people from 30 different countries.

Your mission:

You will contribute to the enhancement and innovative application of our internal control system and process landscape by technologically advancing the Internal Control framework within our company. With this, you will participate in safeguarding securities assets, optimizing risk management, and ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Contribute to the Improvement of the Process Landscape: Enhancing the organization's efficiency by supporting the continuous improvement of our process landscape
  • Assist in Evaluating and Enhancing Internal Controls: Support the analysis of existing internal control processes to identify areas for improvement. Propose innovative solutions to strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of these controls.
  • Engage in Monitoring Activities: Participate in the ongoing monitoring of internal controls
  • Contribute to Control Activities: Work alongside experienced professionals to design and implement control activities that address identified risks, ensuring the accuracy of transactions and reliability of financial reporting. Further, you will help the team transform the controls and processes into respective tools.
  • Support Risk Assessment Initiatives: Collaborate with the team to conduct risk assessments, helping to ensure that all banking operations are aligned with our risk management objectives. Your fresh perspective will be invaluable in identifying emerging risks and proposing mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate Information and Communication: Assist in the development and dissemination of clear communication regarding internal controls and risk management policies to all relevant stakeholders, enhancing awareness and understanding throughout the organization.
  • Work cross-functionally with other Upvest teams (Operations, Product, Engineering, Growth, Finance, and People), as well as external stakeholders (vendors)
  • Experience a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment

      Job requirements:

      • You can commit to a 3 - 6 month full-time internship
      • You're excited about fintech and are thrilled to learn more about risk management in a BaFin-licenced institute and how important it is to have a robust internal control system
      • Bachelor/Master in Management, Finance or similar
      • Hungry to learn and eager to grow
      • Your curiosity for new technological developments is the driver in your pursuit of discovering and implementing innovative tools.
      • You are a team player and feel energized in diverse teams
      • You love to be challenged, take ownership of your work, and iterate quickly
      • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
      • You're willing to relocate to Berlin (where our office is located) to experience the unique team culture at Upvest
      • You are eligible to work in Germany

        Why Upvest?

        • We're working on solving a hard problem: fixing the European securities financial infrastructure that empowers more people to be able to invest. You have the opportunity to contribute to this change.
        • We invest in you. From access to a personal coach, development budget and plenty of opportunities to grow in your role.
        • We take hiring seriously with a strong focus on keeping a high bar when interviewing (equally important is that we hire decent people, who are passionate about their craft and helping us achieve our shared mission).
        • While we're not quite fully-remote, we are committed to being a flexible employer, as we understand you don't have to be in the office to do your best work.
        • We live a culture of empowerment, trust (that we hire the best people and get out of their way) and openness (there's a greater advantage in sharing information than keeping it to ourselves).

        Our values:

        • Learn and grow. We aim high to shape our future. We give and request honest feedback knowing that we develop together. Progression over Perfection.
        • Team first. We make it easy for others. We value our differences and are open to others' opinions. We win and celebrate together! Team over Egos.
        • Own the outcome. Whether we win or we lose, we stand together. We are proactive and get the job done. Outcome over Process.
        • Tell the story. We always start with the why. We share knowledge to empower others. Transparency over Complexity.

Upvest is an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees
