Blockchain is a technology that can be used for achieving transparency and accountability in a distributed environment where the participants have limited trust with each other. In addition, other properties provided by a blockchain such as immutability, automatic execution of agreed transactions (i.e., smart contracts), and validation of executed transactions by peers offer great advantage over other technologies. Given the advantages of blockchain, several use cases related to enforcement of business processes including compliance to regulations are being developed within Siemens.
