Intermediate Software Engineer, Capital Markets Technologies

Coinsquare's Product & Engineering team is looking to add an Intermediate software developers to our Trading Engineering Team.

Our market is maturing and as we approach being regulated by IIROC and OSC, we are looking for people who can cross over from traditional Capital Markets to the new era of blockchain. Coinsquare stands on the frontier of that change and this is an exciting opportunity if you feel you can join us in making a dent in the future of Capital Markets in Canada. Prior experience in Blockchain and Cryptocurrency is not necessary in this role, but the desire to learn is.

The Trading Engineering Team is part of the Exchange Product group and responsible for the full trading stack from public APIs to the internal engine of the ATS, targeted at B2B customers of the Coinsquare exchange in the Canadian market. This team’s mission is to provide fast and scalable access to the trading capabilities of the Coinsquare ATS, including the internal product teams who use the same APIs for the retail products Coinsquare offers.

What you will be doing:

Designing, developing, and testing:

• high performance/scalable services in Go and Python
• REST and Websocket APIs
• FIX Gateway, Order Routing Systems and Market Data feed handlers
• Extending trading capabilities by adding new order types
• Extending inline risk/compliance checks
• Integrating best of breed vendors to augment Coinsquare’s trading capabilities

Providing support to:

• Production systems
• Internal Product Development teams
• Internal algorithmic trading teams
• External trading partners
• Front Office, Middle Office, Back Office, Risk

Working in an environment in which you will:

• Follow a security first approach to building and deploying
• Create secure containerized applications in a cloud based environment
• Write clean understandable code
• Use iterative development and fast feedback
• Collaborate with Product Management and business stakeholders
  

Experience you'll need :

• 3-5 years for Intermediate, 5-10 for senior as a backend developer in Capital Markets, ideally Equities
• Deep working knowledge of the FIX protocol
• Expertise in one or more programming languages, ideally Go and Python
• SQL ideally on Postgres
• Developing within a Microservices/Distributed/Concurrent systems architecture
• Container technologies (i.e. docker, kubernetes)
• Familiarity with cloud hosted deployments, ideally AWS
• Knowledge of business and technical processes supporting a Broker Dealer

Additional knowledge that will help :

• Familiarity with CQRS and event-driven application design with Kafka or AMQP.
• Familiarity with NoSQL storage solutions such as Cassandra, Elastic
• Cryptocurrency market awareness
