You will be responsible for driving forward and leading our communications strategy as we launch in the US and will sit as part of the group comms function. This is an incredible opportunity to help us tell our strategic story and grow our presence as we strive to meet our goal to become the leading crypto platform in the market.

In this role you'll work to build help drive Luno’s corporate and brand communications, help build a PR engine in the US and manage our PR agencies on the ground. Post launch - you will help elevate our story through public relations campaigns related to corporate announcements, original content/research, and industry partnerships/initiatives. Your mission will involve

  • Working closely with Luno’s global Head of PR to plan our launch in the region and bring on board our first PR agency in the US
  • Building and executing PR activity through a solid plan and measurement framework
  • Owning and sharing our story - proactively identify PR and thought leadership opportunities, develop press releases and media alerts, and lead sell-ins which support our mission of upgrading the world to a better financial system
  • Building the profile of our local spokespeople and managing regional KPIs and reporting
  • Manage and maximise opportunities for times when our CEO or other members of our executive team are in region
  • Management and prioritisation of inbound enquiries, material development, tracking and reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Build and maintain relationships with relevant technology media and influencers and manage our PR agency
  • Partner with our broader content and marketing teams to identify and promote our positioning on key industry topics and news

In your first six months, you will

  • Get to grips with our plans for the region and our launch strategy and use this as teh basis for creating a PR plan to support our market entrance: this should include all key milestones and create activation eg: news hijacking, proactive pitch ideas, host media briefings, interviews, award submissions, speaker slots/events
  • Build a PR calendar eg: customer/ media workshops, press trips, bigger events / conferences
  • Build a spokesperson and visibility plan for our GMs and in country teams
  • Support a large scale customer global PR campaigns by analysing and localising content, research and data. Create all press materials and identify and build contact lists of our target media across the region

The ideal Lunaut for this role, will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree. Preference will be given to Communications / Journalism graduates.
  • A minimum of 5 years' PR experience. Ideally in technology or fintech.
  • Good regional media relationships in the financial services or fintech space and the media placements to prove it
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a knack for simplifying complex topics and technologies and economic trends
  • Desire to build an understanding of the different countries: Open to travel across the region (when permitting) to build relationships and get the lay of the land and anything which will make us stand out
  • Used to driving comms yourself and getting your hands dirty - this means writing, pitching, calling and meeting journalists on a regular basis rather than always deferring to the agency.
  • A desire to do the research before campaign launches - including competitor landscape and positioning
