cLabs is looking for a Senior Attorney to join its legal team. As a generalist, with specific responsibilities for highly strategic deals and policies, this role will work directly with the General Counsel and business teams on a variety of aspects, including strategic grants, process and risk, and blockchain and cryptocurrency regulation review. Although based in San Francisco or Berlin, importantly this role will support the global expansion of the Celo decentralized protocol.

The successful Legal Counsel is a clear communicator, highly analytical, and possesses the necessary skills and experience to work effectively in a team. The ideal candidate has a collaborative attitude, makes thoughtful decisions in a timely manner and never hesitates to roll up their sleeves. You have an eye for detail, hold yourself to the highest standard and are inspired to help your team reach success.

You Will:

  • Draft and negotiate strategic agreements and investments;
  • Advise on a wide range of legal issues, including complex regulatory aspects, with an eye toward collaborative problem solving;
  • Provide practical and strategic advice to business clients, with the ability to summarize and communicate complex legal concepts to make them operational and usable for the business;
  • Develop and implement legal guidelines, processes and policies, and conduct internal training on the same;
  • Remain current on relevant industry standards, laws and regulations; and
  • Collaborate with other legal team members and cross functional stakeholders to support the continuous improvement of legal support and processes.

You Have:

  • JD degree from an accredited law school, and a member of the California State Bar
  • 10 years of relevant experience, either in-house or at a law firm, with a focus on contracts, processes, and policies.
  • Experience working on many different projects simultaneously, with the ability and skill to prioritize
  • Experience building consensus across cross-functional stakeholders
  • Comfortable and adept at balancing legal risk and thinking creatively to affect business needs
  • Team oriented with excellent judgment and a positive attitude
  • Highly organized and responsive to tight deadlines
  • Experience and interest in blockchain and cryptocurrencies preferred
  • Simultaneously an independent analytical thinker and high-energy team-player
  • Ability to manage the details without losing sight of the big picture
  • Understands and thrives from Celo’s vision of supporting financial products for unbanked populations
