Engineering/Data Science Manager - Matrix

About the role
We are looking for a tech lead or manager to join us in the field of data engineering or data science. Our business and team are growing exponentially and we need more leaders/doers to join to scale. The Blockchain field is evolving fast and there is a tremendous amount of interesting work waiting to be done. You will have the autonomy to pick mission-critical projects and lead a team of engineers or data scientists to accomplish them. Responsibilities

• Domain expertise in solving complex and highly impactful quantitative business problems
• Mentor junior engineers/data scientists
• Own recruiting and operational processes to shape team's culture and its evolvement
• Own team's strategy and product direction, communication, and iteration
• Lead the team to achieve objectives timely, such as product shipping, platform upgrading, migrating, incident triage, data quality fix
• Assist to manage team's resources, such as documents (we have a culture of documentation), data sets, and AWS resources
• Collaborate with the leadership and cross-functional partners to actively communicate challenges and find solutions that align with our mission
• Aggressively propose and prioritize initiatives/tasks
• Continuously improve management and seeking management excellence

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in the field (engineering or data science)
• 1.5+ years of experience in leading a team
• BS or higher degree in CS, statistics, or related fields
• Excellent technical and people communication skills
• Experience in large-scale data-related industry projects
• Keep to date with the best practices in the field
• Experienced in ramping up on new technology/fields in a week
• Experienced in recruiting
• Experienced in x-func collaboration and driving team alignment
• Ability to maintain ensuring positivity during hardship
• Active listening skills
• Work in a fast-paced chaotic environment and create processes to improve
