Commercial Counsel

The Legal Team is looking for a Commercial Counsel. This is an opportunity to join a team doing complex, cutting-edge legal work. Your primary role will be to help think about the proper legal frameworks to build around our products and technology to enable the company to continue to grow. You’ll then bring this understanding to negotiations with clients and partners to ensure that we’re able to close sales quickly while still protecting the company. Finally, this is an opportunity to help define and shape the company’s legal function - we are growing fast and your input will be valued in deciding on what to focus on and how to go about it.

Responsibilities

• Lead negotiations with clients and partners
• Work closely with the product, engineering and sales teams to continually understand what we’re building and how we go to market in order to spot potential legal issues as we grow
• Collaborate closely with the information security team to stay in front of privacy and cybersecurity issues facing the company
• Work with our engineering team on IP and licensing issues

Qualifications

• J.D., admitted to practice law in New York (or ability to register as in-house counsel)
• 3-5 years at a top law firm’s tech transactions or emerging companies/VC group; start-up experience a plus
• Passionate about technology and innovation
• Familiarity with privacy and software licensing (or a demonstrated willingness to learn)
• Comfortable taking ownership of internal and external relationships
• Enjoy working in a fast-paced but collaborative environment
