Lead Solutions Engineer (f/m/d)

We’re looking for fintech enthusiasts to join us in creating the financial infrastructure of tomorrow. We’re building the first European Investment API to enable any financial institution to offer a broad range of investment products in their apps. Our view is backed by Europe's largest tech VCs (Earlybird, Notion Capital, Partech, HV Capital, ABN AMRO Ventures) and by renowned fintech entrepreneurs (including Maximilian Tayenthal, founder of N26, and Felix Haas, founder of IDnow).

This role is based in Berlin and our HQ.

Purpose of Solutions Engineering:

We are an API-first company. Our product is an HTTPS/JSON API our clients integrate with to embed investing capabilities inside their own products. As such the public API is the face of the product and the company as this is what our customers see when they integrate. Solutions Engineering team's purpose is to be there for our customers when they are integrating and beyond. They are the first point of contact for all technical questions about the integration, how the API works, how it is intended to be used and so on. They then act as a link back to the relevant Product Engineering teams and provide feedback. This is the most customer facing of our engineering roles.

Your mission:

As our Head of Solutions Engineering, you’ll join and take ownership of our Solutions Engineering efforts at Upvest Engineering. You will report directly to the CTO, Juha Ristolainen.

You will play a critical role in Upvest Engineering leadership by owning and being accountable for all things related to our customer integration projects. You will work closely with your stakeholders from Growth and Customer Success as well as directly with the CTO and the CPO in discovering and defining what kind of support we should provide our clients in using our APIs. We always put the customer first so leading by example you will set the standards for effective and successful collaboration between our engineering teams and our customers.

You will collaborate with your Head of Engineering peers in aligning on strategy and plans, agreeing on priorities as well as the growth of the organization.

You will be working on a greenfield project with cutting-edge technologies and no legacy code.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

• Help define what a modern Cloud native investment bank’s Developer Experience should be.
• Gain valuable experience in a high-security, high-stakes, and high-growth FinTech environment\

Requirements

• Hands-on developer background with experience leading teams and/or departments for at least the past few years. Been in the industry for 8+ years
• Great people, communication, and leadership skills
• Good architectural vision
• Strategic planning skills, prioritization skills. Focus on what matters.
• Stakeholder management skills
• Taking ownership and owning the outcome
• Prior experience with event-driven distributed systems
• Prior experience with Cloud computing (ideally with GCP)
• High level of pragmatism.

Nice to have:

• Experience working in the FinTech domain
• Experience in high-growth environments. Organizational planning skills
• Knowledge of our modern tech stack (Go, Docker, K8S, LinkerD, Postgres, Kafka, Redis), SRE, service meshes, API gateways, and observability. Modern web frontend technologies, micro frontends.
