Software Test Engineer (Automation) - Sidechains

IO Global is searching for a Software Test Engineer (Automation) to join its Mamba team. Product quality is of central importance in this role. You will take part in building test automation for a blockchain client, based on proof-of-stake, that delivers Ethereum compatibility to the Cardano ecosystem.

As a Software Test Engineer (Automation) you will automate the testing of a distributed platform, perform load testing, and prepare scenarios along a solid product roadmap. We are using open-source testing frameworks, such as Ethereum test suite, Hive, and OpenZeppelin, and integrating them with the product. Your fellow team members will include senior developers and DevOps experts.

Your mission

• Interacting with product management, project management, and development teams to develop testing objectives
• Reviewing and analyzing system specifications
• Designing and creating test conditions and scripts to address business and technical use cases
• Using existing tools and techniques to execute test cases and building or scripting new tools for testing and validation
• Executing and analyzing automation test results
• Troubleshooting and triaging issues with multiple teams to identify and resolve root causes
• Supporting production deployment of applications and performing validation testing during off-hours maintenance
• Documenting, tracking, and escalating issues
• Supporting technical services as an escalation point for reported bugs.

Requirements

Your expertise

• Degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, logic, physics, or related subject
• Minimum of five years’ experience in testing, preferably including performance and security testing
• Ability to work in an agile set-up (Scrum and Kanban)
• Experience in test automation and application programming interface (API) testing
• Experience in scripting for Linux based OS
• Record of setting up an automation framework
• Familiarity with software engineering best practices and testing methodologies, ideally with ISTQB or ISEB certification
• Expertise in libraries, tools, and procedures for the execution and automation of various types of tests (including unit, property, integration, end-to-end, user interface, performance, stress, and fault tolerance)
• Knowledge of a functional programming language such as Python, Java, or C# (although Haskell would be preferable)
• Ability to pick up new concepts and processes, and experience of highly technical work environments
• Experience with virtualization (VMWare or Hyper-V), Linux, Git, continuous integration (CI), and continuous deployment (CD)
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks such as ETS, OpenZeppelin and Hive
• Understanding of Grafana or other monitoring system
• Strong interest in blockchain.

Desirable but not essential

• Experience in distributed systems and network
• Blockchain development experience
• Knowledge of Scala or functional programing.
