As a Director of UX, you will help shape the strategy and evolution for Coinsquare’s retail investor applications. This is a multi-faceted role within a company that is starting to scale its people, processes, and product suite. In keeping with this, we’re looking for a leader who has the capability to build a UX discipline that encompasses product design, user research, and analytics informed decision making. Coinsquare is rapidly evolving its suite of products and we expect UX to play a central role in shaping our future strategy. As our Director, UX you’ll work hand-in-hand with Product Management, so as to elevate the decision making processes around current and future product planning.


What you'll do :

  • Establish and build a fully functional UX department including its processes, practices, and personnel.
  • Strongly advocate the importance of user-centric decision making and actively promote the merits of a healthy UX discipline.
  • Execute day-to-day UX activities and artifacts such as user flows, journeys, research notes, wireframes, mockups and clickable prototypes.
  • Establish and implement new qualitative and quantitative user research processes in order to make informed, data-driven UX decisions.
  • Mentor and coach an emerging UX department as well as the broader organization on best approaches to UX-based decision making.
  • Collaborate with the team to finalize design decisions for web and mobile applications that meet user, business and technical goals.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with cross functional teams within Coinsquare and with external partners.


    • Experience you'll bring :

  • 7-10 years of experience within the field of user experience with web and mobile based products.
  • Experience building and structuring a UX department that encompasses design, data analytics, user research, usability testing, and prototyping.
  • Willingness and ability to act as a “player/coach” that is comfortable switching gears between strategic planning and day-to-day execution.
  • Experience and ability to communicate, present, and influence at an executive level.
  • An understanding of how UX fits into the Agile/Scrum process.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform competitive landscaping reviews.
  • Experience shipping live product features from concept to production.
  • Strong sense of visual design, including typography, colour theory, design libraries and grid systems.
