We are looking for a Director of Compliance (Internal Controls and Governance) to join our rapidly growing company and Compliance team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing and scaling our Compliance governance and controls program and processes as related to managing Paxos company-wide policies, procedures, and regulatory obligations. This includes working closely with Paxos’ business line leads to ensure controls are appropriately documented and in place along with ensuring associated policies and procedures are up-to-date. Additionally, this individual will be critical in supporting strategic projects that are high priority and cross functional in relation to regulatory affairs and new business developments. This cross functional role will be a key to Paxos’s success as we continue to grow our business. Paxos will rely on this position to assist in implementing regulatory requirements within a new business entity and to adapt and apply policies, procedures, and controls.

As Director of Compliance (Internal Controls and Governance), you'll get to:

  • Ensure compliance and governance standards are implemented across all Paxos business lines and legal entities, including policies and procedures along with risk and compliance frameworks
  • Oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures for all Paxos entities and operations engaging with cross-functional stakeholders and subject matter experts as necessary
  • Develop and implement Paxos-wide compliance policies, including anti-bribery, conflict of interest, and internal trading policy and restrictions, ensuring and documenting compliance with those policies, and providing appropriate training
  • Inventory, track, and manage updates and reviews for all Paxos policies and procedures, including appropriate record-keeping
  • Oversee development and completion of necessary Company-wide training
  • Report to senior management, internal audit, and regulators regarding policy and training development and implementation
  • Oversee and coordinate systems access controls, including audit and maintenance of those controls, collecting and leveraging, data as appropriate
  • Identify and evaluate internal control deficiencies along with opportunities for efficiency wins; provide recommendations for improvement and monitor remediation efforts
  • Stay abreast of compliance and governance developments and their impact on Paxos’ Compliance programs
  • Assist in the preparation of annual regulatory examinations, internal audits and other external evaluations.
  • Immerse yourself in blockchain technology, cryptocurrency for enterprises and investors, our regulation-first approach, and more

Your experience should include:

  • 7+ years experience in consulting, project management or regulatory affairs management role
  • Ability to manage stakeholders across the organization to drive mission critical projects to completion
  • Ability to write clear and concise documentation and correspondences for regulatory projects
  • Understanding of how to manage various types of projects from kick-off to completion
  • A strong management presence and ability to rally the team around project needs and deadlines
  • Ability to get your hands dirty and create leverage on projects by bringing your unique expertise and willingness to learn the moving parts
  • A bachelor's degree in business, technology or related field
  • Experience in FinTech or financial services is a plus
  • Strong writing capabilities and experience with engaging regulators / auditory examiners a plus
