The Backend Platform team in the Infrastructure org is responsible for running production systems at scale.

What you'll be doing:

  • Manage, maintain, scale our paved road database MongoDB, workflow orchestration using Cadence/Temporal
  • Manage the infrastructure to run background jobs at scale for the company, building the paved road for event streaming using Kafka, maintain and scale our Redis clusters.
  • Collaborate with teams to help in decomposition of our monolithic and maintain Coinbase Service Framework used to build Go services in the company. We are looking for engineers who are excited to help us scale 10x-100x the amount of traffic we handle now and help us solve some of our multi-region challenges.
What we look for in you:
  • You have at least 8 years of experience in software engineering
  • Have experience with Ruby on Rails or Golang or other object oriented languages
  • Design scalable systems to solve novel problems with modern cloud technology and industry best practices.
  • Articulate a long term vision for maintaining and scaling our backend systems and the teams running them.
  • Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers.
  • Experience working with engineering teams and stakeholders across the business
  • Have a passion for stable and secure system management practices
  • Have experience working in distributed production environments
